Kidney Stones

Yesterday i woke up feeling good, just a normal day. I typically have to go to the bathroom a few times when i wake, this was normal until about 8:30 when i had gone 5 times in 1 hour and it wasn't pleasant. By 9:00 i was feeling a lot of pain and thought I must have a UTI. I called my sister and asked her some Q's and then called my mom and she told me to call the Dr. So i called and they got me an apt in 30 mins. Just as i got off the phone i got this STABBING/SHARP pain in my back. It took my breath away and continued to get progressively worse. I called my mom back and she immediately said "kidney stone". I had all the symptoms and the pain in my back only got worse. I my husband and said I'm going to the Dr but i can hardly walk and i probably shouldn't drive. He rushed home and we drove to the Dr. Luckily it was only 5miles away, b/c the car ride was so painful. At he Dr's office they take me back to a room where i attempt to lay down (at this point NOTHING is comfortable) so they can find the babies heart beat. The Dr came in and said i think i need to send you to the ER so off we went only 4 miles away which felt like 4 hours in the car. After checking in i was put in a stretcher and the real fun began. I got this stabbing pain in my back that was so unbearable that i almost passed out. I cant explain the pain but it was the MOST painful thing I have ever gone through. This attach lasted about 10 min, i looked at my husband and pleaded for anything, knock me out, give me something, i just needed some relief. I don't know what child birth is like but I'm told that a kidney stone is worse. After the attach the pain was still constant but it was not stabbing. The nurse came by about 10 mins later and put in an IV and gave me some morphine at that point i was stable enough to relax. About 40 mins later the stone began to pass and the pain was back, shooting down my side into my groin. More morphine and BUT no relief, it helped me relax so i could tolerate the pain until the stone entered into my bladder. Just like my mom said once the stone passes its like someone just turned off the switch. It took about 5 hours to pass and i had to pee REALLY bad thinking I'm just going to try and pee and nothing will come but i was wrong. At that time the stone had passed and i was feeling good. 8 hours later we were headed home and i felt like a new person. I pray and hope i never get another one again but they say its very common in pregnant woman that none pregnant woman. At least i know what to expect!
So tiny but SOOOOO Painful, picture above helps me understand why they hurt so bad.

Yikes, Erin!! I'm so sorry!! I hope you are feeling great and that you won't have to do THAT again!! It makes me laugh that some people I know have claimed to have kidney stones, but could just casually walk into the bathroom and say they passed one. (You know who I'm talking about!!!!) Love ya lots!!!

ERIN!! Oh I'm so sorry that happened to you. 3 or 4 weeks after I had my twins I had to go to the ER at 1 am for gall stones and I had to get my gall bladder removed the next day. I know what you mean though- I had NEVER felt pain like that in all my life. I hope you don't get any more!
